[Poem] Lost at sea

I wake inches from the sand
The bed of rock tears my skin

Waves swamp each panicked breath
And as I endure the rising tide
Salt scrubs deep cuts in soft flesh

Yesterday I rode waves with you
On and on they carried us
Until you pushed me under

Nothing kept me afloat
Onto the shore I was cruelly tossed
To be dashed against jagged edges

My heart was lost at sea
Every deluge terrifies me
